At Arte Javane we are committed to a social and sustainable development of the inhabitants of the area, always with the least possible impact on nature. All our products are made by hand, mostly with hand tools.
How Amalur Bamboo Speakers were born?
We are constantly looking for art in nature. Therefore, we discover the extraordinary sound quality of bamboo and its natural function as a soundboard.
Bamboo is a flowering perennial evergreen plant of the grass family that grows spontaneously and very fast in the fertile lands of Java. It is one of the most abundant and renewable resources of the planet.
but we did not just choose any bamboo. We mostly selected them from near Borobudur, the Buddhist Temple, recognized as one of the wonders of the world.
We wanted sustainability, art and spirituality, all in one.
Amalur bamboo production in Java Island (Indonesia)
Amalur bamboo production is divided into two sections.
The harvesting and first manipulation of the raw material – in addition to the carving, is done in a village in Central Java, known for the mastery of its people in carving bamboo. It is also located in the area where Black Java Bamboo grew in abundance.
The entire villagers turn to work for us, and we ensure that they receive a just and dignified retribution for their work.
The villagers are delighted to help us, and we are also delighted to work with them; thus mutual care and affection were achieved.
The rest, or almost 70% of the whole process, is carried out in Yayasan Penyandang Cacat Mandiri (YPCM) – “Independent” Foundation for the Disabled; a non-profit foundation dedicated to the employment and training of people with disabilities.
With the YPCM Foundation we maintain a collaboration based on the respect and the illusion to get ahead together.
We practice fair trade, pamper our employees, not only with good salaries, but with prospects for development and constant improvement.
